Web Development Firm Stresses Optimizing your e-commerce Component

New York website development and organic search engine optimization firm says that a customer’s e-commerce experience is crucial for sales.

These days, everyone is talking about the benefits of search engine optimization (SEO). And, while a good SEO plan is essential to a website’s success, Peter Crisafi, Vice President of dzine it, Inc., a New York website development firm, specializing in e-commerce application development, says that optimizing your customers’ shopping experience is just as important.

“When selling a product online, there is no question that your search engine placement is key to bringing users to your site,” says Crisafi, “but even if you are successful in bringing visitors to your site, getting them to purchase your products is the ultimate goal.”

One of the best ways to get them to buy, according to Crisafi, is to make their experience a pleasurable one.

“Research shows that many potential online consumers will abandon their shopping carts prior to checkout,” says Crisafi. “One of the best ways to avoid a customer bailout is to optimize your e-commerce pages in a way that makes your consumers comfortable, confident, and free from annoyances.”

One of the biggest gripes online customers have, Crisafi says, is the requirement that they must divulge too much information before purchasing a product. Registering with a company, the sharing of additional data, and opt-in questions tend to put off some customers. Instead, Crisafi suggests saving that information for the end of a purchase or building information gathering technique into the page so that they are simply options that don’t require click-throughs.

“The GoDaddy checkout process is a fine example of what not to do with your e-commerce checkout process,” says Crisafi. “Having to click through three to five pages of questions and offers before you can even enter your billing information can be daunting and, quite frankly, annoying to a customer.”

Crisafi says that collecting user information is important, but not at the risk of losing sales.

Other ways to optimize your online store include using repetition, whether it is in reference to a particular sale, product endorsement, or offer; providing assurances, such as clearly spelling out your privacy statement, your guarantees, and your return policy; and offer alternative ordering methods.

“Believe it or not, there are still people who are uncomfortable entering their credit card information online,” says Crisafi, “by giving them the opportunity to order by phone or by mail, you are giving your business the opportunity to increase sales drastically.”

These are just a few tips, Crisafi says, to help make your e-commerce site more user friendly and desirable to customers.

He continues, “Hiring a professional website development firm to revamp your existing e-commerce weebsite can make all the difference in your customers’ experience.”
